Cancelling a membership
You cancel in the members area under Settings > Billing. Memberships renew automatically at the end of each period, and a trial moves on to a monthly membership, so nothing stops until you do this.
- Log in at the members area.
- Go to Settings > Billing.
- Cancel your membership and look for confirmation on screen.
- Take a screenshot of the confirmation, with the date visible, in case you need it later.
If you can't log in, our log-in help page explains how to reset your password. If you still can't get in, contact the members help centre from the email address on your account and ask for help cancelling.
When to cancel
The best time to cancel is as soon as you've decided you don't want to renew. You don't need to wait until the last day of the period, and waiting is how renewals slip through.
A simple habit helps: when you pay, set a reminder on your phone for a couple of days before the renewal date.
What you'll see on your statement
Charges appear under the billing name shown at checkout. It may be a network name rather than "Fish For Singles", because the members area is shared with partner sites in the same network. Make a note of it when you pay.
If you don't recognise a charge
Work through these in order:
- Check the billing name you noted at checkout, and look for a confirmation email from the members area.
- Ask at home. Check whether anyone else in the household might have signed up with your card.
- Contact the help centre. Send the members help centre the date, the amount and the last four digits of the card. Never send your full card number.
- Call your bank if it looks like fraud. If you think your card details have been stolen, call your bank straight away. In the UK, 159 connects you to most banks' fraud teams.
If you've lost money to someone you met online, that's a different problem. Report it to Report Fraud in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (0300 123 2040), or to Police Scotland on 101. Our safety page has the full list.
Refunds
The members area terms allow a refund only on a pro-rata basis, and only when at least 40% of the membership period is unused. For example, on a one-month membership that means asking while roughly 12 or more days remain. Read the current members area terms and contact the help centre if you think you qualify.
For independent advice on your consumer rights in England, the Citizens Advice consumer helpline is 0808 223 1133 (Welsh-speaking advisers: 0808 223 1144), Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Questions people ask
Does deleting my account cancel my membership?
Don't rely on it. Cancel in Settings > Billing first and keep the confirmation, then delete your account from your avatar > Settings > Delete Account. Doing it in that order means you have a record that renewals were stopped.
I don't recognise a charge. What should I do?
Check the billing name you saw when you paid, and whether anyone else in your household might have signed up. Then contact the members help centre with the date and amount. If you think your card details were stolen, call your bank straight away; in the UK, 159 reaches most banks' fraud teams.
Can I get a refund for a trial?
Refunds are only pro-rata, and only when at least 40% of the paid period is unused. A trial moves on to a monthly membership when it ends, so cancel in Settings > Billing before then if you don't want to carry on.
Will I lose access straight away when I cancel?
Check the confirmation screen, which should tell you what happens next. If it isn't clear when your access ends, ask the members help centre before you rely on it.
Where can I get independent advice about a subscription?
In England, the Citizens Advice consumer helpline is 0808 223 1133, and a Welsh-speaking adviser is on 0808 223 1144. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Citizens Advice's website links to the services for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
